WEHO Pride OUTLOUD Music Festival
In the heart of West Hollywood, Weho Pride did something a little different this year and threw an entire offshoot music festival filled to the absolute brim with heavy hitters, called OUTLOUD Raising Voices Music Festival - a three-day festival comparable to the bigger festivals throughout the country, with a queer twist.
AstroloTea
Sometimes I miss that mid-1990’s feeling of being a young, naïve queer with an entire summer break of possibilities ahead of me. Well, okay, my summer breaks were just as horrendous as the rest of the year, but you get the point. Freedom; play; adventure; childlike wonder; carefree heart…the gifts of being a kid.
Frankie Fictitious
Frankie Fictitious lived many lives before her rise to burlesque infamy. This small-town girl from The Bay has been dancing since she was six, she was the lead guitarist in an all-girl band, she studied painting in college, and has always had a passion for art. One fateful day in San Francisco, Fictitious witnessed the power and sexuality of the incredible Dita Von Teese.
GAY ASStrology Dance Party
If you’re a part of the queer scene near Los Angeles, you have assuredly heard of the Gay Asstrology Party. The once monthly astrology-centered party in the heart of LA provides a safe space for every queer person no matter their identity, age, race, or birthdays (looking at you Scorpios). Judgment is left at the door and self-expression reigns.
New York Pride Recap
The one word to describe, the vibe, energy, love and community of New York Pride is electric. From Friday June 24th to Sunday June 26th millions of LGBTQ members and ally’s flocked to all different parts of New York City. On Friday, the world got word that Roe v. Wade was overturned and our entire community felt the full force of devastation.
Money and Children
Parents can insulate their kids from some of the biggest money management mistakes and build their financial literacy by talking openly about the value of money and the benefits of good financial decision making. To yield the biggest impact on kids’ money habits, however, the lessons imparted must be age-appropriate.
Binary Code – DJ Moeejito
It was a delight to get to know DJ Moeejito better as we chatted and met up to work on this piece. They were very candid and open with me about their life and experiences. Their journey hasn’t been an easy one, but they have forged a new path and you get the sense when you talk to Moee, that they are older than their 27 years.
Starting the Conversation
LGBTQ+ families are an indisputable and vital part of communities across the United States. In fact, recent data from the Family Equality Council suggests that as many as 3.7 million children are raised by LGBTQ+ parents and decades of research shows that children with LGBTQ+ parents grow up as happy, healthy and well-adjusted as their peers.
Chelsea Gray
As I sat down with Chelsea Gray at Tailgate Social it was easy to see why she has found success in the WNBA. Her height and physique hint at her status as an elite athlete and leader, but it quickly becomes clear that she has the brains to back it up.
PRIDE Month Embraced by Professional Sports Teams
2022 saw the return of PRIDE Nights celebrated by nearly every major professional sports league in the nation. These celebrations have evolved over time to include varying degrees of community involvement and engagement.
Carl Nassib
Carl Nassib is a leader on and off the field during his first six NFL seasons, and he further elevated his social impact with a charitable announcement in June. Nassib, the first openly gay active player in NFL history, said in an Instagram post that he will match donations to The Trevor Project up to $100,000 in an effort that coincides with Pride Month.
Letter from the Editor
LGBTQ representation in sports and media is at an all time high. As more athletes, coaches and fans continue to break the stigma and come OUT, we continue to see ourselves represented in the places where we have always existed. We are visible in locker rooms, on sidelines and in starting lineups.
July AstroloTea with Etheric Medicina
If you’re like the rest of us in sinfully sweaty Las Vegas, you’ve been “feeling the heat” already since May. Don’t overdo the refreshing bottomless mimosas and splashy day clubs yet, though, because July is coming with record-breaking temperatures…and I hope that you have some AC for your soul.
HARD Summer Music Festival
HARD Summer Music Festival is fast approaching, and we, at the Restless Rundown, are here to give you what to expect. From Friday July 29th to Sunday July 31st in San Bernadino, California thousands of festival goers will converge on the NOS Events center to enjoy the music of today’s best DJ’s and artists.
Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade
The Las Vegas PRIDE Board of Directors stands firm in our commitment and belief that Reproductive Rights are Human Rights. We are angered and saddened by the Supreme Court Decision to overturn nearly five decades of law upholding reproductive rights.
EDC Las Vegas
Peace, love, unity, respect- P.L.U.R. The credo has long since been what has attracted people to raves and festivals. The camaraderie, the lifestyle, the way people look out for people, it’s why we rave. It's why we take to the desert of Las Vegas every year to take in the energy of nearly 170,000 people.
Elixir Mixology Bar – The Lesbian Haven in the Gay Mecca
Who is Elixir Mixology Bar, exactly? If you ask them, they are “Una experiencia sensorial única en el corazón de Puerto Vallarta hecho por mujeres.” Or in English, “A unique sensory experience in the heart of Puerto Vallarta created by women.”
OP-ED: Advancing Equality in Nevada
While I would prefer to pen a celebratory piece about the Silver State’s progressive advances for LGBTQ+ Nevadans, shit’s getting real.
AstroloTea with Etheric Medicina
The month of June is ripe with astrological activity that will impact us on both personal and societal levels, and I’m here to give you the planetary business, the AstroloTea, if you will.
Adonis Laurent: Legend Rising
House ballroom has long been the scene where legends rise in the LGBTQ+ community. While the concept dates back centuries, ballroom culture as we know it thrives on the foundation of the Harlem ballroom scene in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
Bursting Through
Bursting Through is the storytelling movement for Queer/Straight relationships. Stories are the most powerful change agent in the world—they have the power to change hearts, minds, attitudes and ultimately lives.
Celebrating Latin PRIDE
Josie Cavallari and Jeffrey Alvarez arrived at El Mercado in The Boulevard Mall with quiet confidence that became more evident as we set-up among the quinceañera dresses and bold colors on display in the tienditas. It doesn’t take long to see why the pair is a walking embodiment of orgullo (PRIDE). Their undeniable charisma cuts through the curious stares of shopkeepers and onlookers.
Reinvesting in Your Health
If we’ve learned one thing as a society from the last two years of managing a global health crisis, it’s that investing in your physical and mental health is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family.
Jolene Secrets – Miss Las Vegas PRIDE 2022
The first time I saw Jolene perform, I was at Charlie’s Las Vegas. The music came on along with a music video on the screens (not usual for most drag performances), and Jolene took to the stage.
Binary Code
I sat down with D Marcucci in the afternoon at my home here in Las Vegas. They sat on a large area rug centered on the floor of a large open living room, surrounded by house plants with a 1970’s orange, gold, and leopard print theme, called The Leopard Lounge. A normal interview might be conducted on a pair of opposing chairs or couches, but I knew this typical strategy wouldn’t work.
