OUR LIGHTS WILL NEVER GO OUT

PRIDE Board Stands With Those Affected By The Las Vegas Shooting On October 1, 2017

Las Vegas, NV, October 2, 2017: Today, our city is in mourning.  This is a horrific day in our Nation’s history, particularly for the residents and visitors to Las Vegas. The act of violence that was carried out last night in our wonderful city of Las Vegas, has become the county’s worst massacre in modern history. On behalf of the Southern Nevada Association of PRIDE, Inc., we express our sincerest condolences to the victims, family members, friends and those who witnessed this senseless act of violence. May those who lost their lives rest in peace and those injured have a speedy recovery.

Many of our friends and family work in the hospitality industry.  A time such as this calls for our community to band together more as a family. We must continue to show our love and support for each other; and reflect on how dangerous and deadly HATE can be, and what it produces. This happened at a music festival. A time to be used for celebration of happiness and life. We must continue these celebrations and embrace love, happiness, and life above hate. Let us continue the conversations about ending hate against our communities and live as one people.

As facts continue to arrive behind the motives and reasons, we must not focus on speculation. The Board would like to commend the actions of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Clark County Fire Department, all Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses, and first responders for their diligent work. You have placed yourselves in harm’s way to protect others. You are heroes.

With the Las Vegas PRIDE Parade & Festival only two weeks away, please know that the Board will continue its amazing partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to ensure the safety of those attending.

Our hearts, love, and prayers go out to everyone in this beautiful city of Las Vegas. Let it be known that our lights will never go out. We are here and we stand with all who are affected.
