LAS VEGAS PRIDE – PROUD IN 2020

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – OCTOBER 15, 2020: Happy Las Vegas PRIDE 2020! While we continue to celebrate PRIDE throughout the month of October – and all year every year – this past weekend marks the traditional Las Vegas PRIDE weekend, and as always, there is a lot to be PROUD of!

For the first time in the State’s history, Governor Steve Sisolak, recognized National Coming Out Day (NCOD) with a Proclamation, acknowledging and celebrating the day for the State of Nevada!

The City of Las Vegas celebrated as well – Mayor Goodman, Councilman Brian Knudsen, and Councilwoman Oliva Diaz celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the first RAINBOW sidewalk installation in the City, adjacent to The Garden. Additionally, Las Vegas City Hall lit up with RAINBOW colors to celebrate and show PRIDE and hosted a panel for LGBT+ issues, focused on supporting our community!

Henderson celebrated with the grand opening of The Henderson Equality Center. Senators Susie Lee and Jackie Rosen, Congressman Steven Horseford, CCSD Superintendent Jesus Jara, all delivered proclamations celebrating the event.

The Las Vegas Strip lit up as well with Sands Corporation (Venetian/Palazzo), and Westgate hotels spreading PRIDE with RAINBOW colors and logos.

Our Board celebrated the 2020 PRIDE at Home program. We brought together our community in the safest ways possible with video submissions of local entertainers celebrating and expressing PRIDE! We also hosted the Las Vegas PRIDE OUTside Hike at the Historic Railroad Tunnel Trails in Boulder City.

As always, our sponsors, community, and allies celebrated Las Vegas PRIDE 2020. Despite our challenges, our LGBT+ community perseveres and rises to celebrate our uniqueness and diversity. We have big plans for Las Vegas PRIDE 2021, so please stay tuned for details.
