Las Vegas, NV, May 31, 2020: As a community organization and as an event organizer, the Board of Directors of Las Vegas PRIDE have come to accept and embrace change. 2020 was always going to be a big year for the world, the start of a new decade, passing the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a new chapter for diversity, inclusion, and equality. The reality of how changes in 2020 are affecting us all are a surprise; and we are faced with challenges and crises unseen in recent times.

In the face of unimaginable adversity, facing unprecedented challenges, I have seen our LGBT+ communities accomplish amazing things and achieve unbelievable goals. As a member chapter of InterPride, I am PROUD to share that the InterPride Global Team have initiated an online Global Pride initiative. “As LGBT+ community members, COVID-19 is not going to stop us from celebrating our lives and identities,” Julian Sanjivan, Co-President of InterPride, the international association of Pride organizers, explains. All funds raised by this Global Pride event will be distributed to Pride organizations suffering from the economic impacts of the pandemic.

All Pride organizations were invited to submit content, and the Global Pride team brought on international partners and contributors. According to Sanjivan, “Global Pride 2020 brings together fantastic talent and world leaders from all corners of the globe on a single platform for 24 hours while celebrating who we are. It is an opportunity for many around the world to be included during this difficult time while we help fundraise for the many Pride organizers affected by the pandemic.”

Las Vegas PRIDE is honored to submit a performance of, “We Are the World” by local entertainer, Bryan Chan, along with other friends and Las Vegas entertainers Dan Schumann, Ben Stone, Lorena Peril, Jasmine Trias, Josh Strickland, Mark Shunock, and Savanna Smith, to the Global Pride event. Bryan shares, “We first came together to sing this song when the world was sick, scared, and confused. It seems even more relevant three months later as our country is hurt, angry, and afraid.” Bryan and the Las Vegas entertainment community are proud to show their support for Las Vegas and the LGBT+ community.

Global Pride will take place on June 27, 2020. It is produced by InterPride, the International Association of Pride Organizers, the European Pride Organizers Association (EPOA), US Association of Pride, Fierté Canada Pride, the Consolidated Association of Pride Organizers, the UK Pride Organizers Network, CSD Deutschland, Svenska Pride, Orgullo Latinamericano, and the African Pride Network.
