New Year, New Queer: Resolutions for a More Inclusive 2024
By Las Vegas PRIDE Magazine Staff
As we enter 2024, the LGBTQ+ community finds itself at a pivotal moment. With each year bringing its own challenges and triumphs, the new year offers an opportunity to reflect, reset, and recommit to creating a world that is inclusive and affirming for all. Whether you’re an individual looking to grow or an organization seeking to do better, here are some resolutions to help us make 2024 our most inclusive year yet.
Celebrate Intersectionality
One of the greatest strengths of the LGBTQ+ community is its diversity. This year, let’s focus on uplifting voices from every corner of our community, especially those who often go unheard. Whether it’s advocating for BIPOC LGBTQ+ individuals, supporting queer people with disabilities, or amplifying the stories of LGBTQ+ elders, intersectionality should be at the heart of our efforts.
Resolution: Attend events, read books, and follow creators who represent multiple facets of identity. Commit to learning about and supporting intersectional experiences.

Challenge Anti-Trans Narratives
2023 saw an alarming rise in anti-trans legislation and rhetoric. As allies and community members, we must take a stand against transphobia in all its forms. Whether it’s in policy, the media, or everyday conversations, our voices are needed to protect and uplift our trans siblings.
Resolution: Speak out against misinformation, support trans-led organizations, and educate yourself and others about trans issues.
Support LGBTQ+ Youth
Queer youth face unique challenges, from navigating their identities in unsupportive environments to dealing with mental health struggles. A little support can make a huge difference in their lives.
Resolution: Volunteer at or donate to organizations that support LGBTQ+ youth, such as The Trevor Project or local queer youth shelters. Offer mentorship or advocacy in your community.
Be an Active Ally
True allyship goes beyond wearing a rainbow pin during Pride Month. It means standing up for LGBTQ+ rights year-round, even when inconvenient or uncomfortable.
Resolution: Attend LGBTQ+ advocacy events, write to your elected officials about queer rights issues, and call out discriminatory behavior when you see it.
Create Safer Spaces
Everyone deserves to feel safe and seen, whether at work, at home, or in their social circles. Building inclusive environments requires intentionality and effort.
Resolution: Review your organization’s policies to ensure they’re LGBTQ+-inclusive. If you’re a leader, ensure your space welcomes all identities.
Invest in Queer Art and Media
Representation matters. Supporting LGBTQ+ creators ensures that our stories are told authentically and celebrated widely.
Resolution: Watch queer-led shows and movies, buy from LGBTQ+ artists, and share their work with others.
Practice Self-Care and Community Care
The fight for equality can be exhausting. Taking care of yourself and each other is crucial for sustaining the movement.
Resolution: Set boundaries, seek therapy if needed, and check in on your friends and loved ones regularly. Building a supportive network can make all the difference.
Looking Ahead
2024 has the potential to be a landmark year for LGBTQ+ rights and visibility. By committing to these resolutions, we can each play a part in shaping a brighter, more inclusive future. Let’s make this the year where we celebrate not just our identities but our collective strength and resilience. Here’s to a New Year and a New Queer!
