Overview:
Come and hear from the UK’s representative in the Southwest US who will talk through the tools of promoting LGBT+ rights abroad, the upcoming ‘Safe To Be Me’ global conference in London in June 2022, and experiences (and challenges) of promoting inclusion within the infamously homogenous government sector.

 

About Will Powles:

Will Powles is the UK’s representative for trade and economic affairs in the British Consulate General in Los Angeles, appointed in October 2020. He is responsible for the UK’s trading relationship with the Southwest US region, and representing the UK in a range of settings. A former Las Vegas resident, he led the UK’s participation in the first Las Vegas Pride and Palm Springs pride celebrations. Before his arrival in California, he held a number of roles in Her Majesty’s Government championing LGBT+ equality, including as chair of the UK Cabinet Office LGBT+ network.
