Overview:
LGBTQIA+ people and veterans share many of the same struggles. In the United States, mental illness and homelessness continue to be a problem for both communities. Veterans are often disregarded because of assumptions that the federal government would provide appropriate resources. Organizers of Pride have the opportunity to build relationships with this group. Small acts of recognition can make a massive difference in the lives of our LGBTQIA+ veteran community because they come from a wide range of backgrounds, just like our community as a whole.
About Dr. Starzyk:
Dr. Ryan A. Starzyk is a seasoned business professional, community leader, and former Arizona State Senate candidate with extensive experience in management, research, and strategic planning. Dr. Starzyk served in the United States Air Force from 2003 to 2007, receiving the Air Force Meritorious Unit Award with Valor for his service in Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
