Biden-Harris Administration Finalizes Rule to Strengthen Protections for Youth in the Child Welfare System
On April 29th, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), finalized a policy that strengthens protections for youth in foster care by clarifying how states must meet their statutory requirements to appropriately serve LGBTQI+ children in foster care.
Revving Up for Success
Travis Shumake wasn’t your typical kid growing up in Phoenix, Arizona. His playground wasn’t the local park, it was the drag strip. The son of celebrated NHRA drivers Tripp and Susie Shumake, Travis’s “average” childhood activities included chatting with racing legends, standing on the starting line, and pretending to do burnouts in the Nitro Funny Car parked in the family garage.
Las Vegas PRIDE OUTside Hikes Tule Springs Loop
The Floyd Lamb State Park features the Tule Springs Loop, which is a free-to-access trail that interconnects with the greater park area. This area features lakes and grass, historic buildings, level trails, both paved and unpaved, and a mix of desert and green scenery and wildlife.

Whether you volunteer at the PRIDE Night Parade or the PRIDE Festival, by becoming a volunteer and joining our Volunteer LOVE program you are sure to make great new friends while feeling good about the work you are doing in your community. In addition to our own educational programs, Las Vegas PRIDE partners with numerous organizations to promote awareness and assist with fundraising efforts, providing financial support for LGBT focused programs. This is done in the hopes of creating a stronger LGBT community in Southern Nevada.
