Every community has stories worth preserving, and the story of Las Vegas PRIDE is one of perseverance, visibility, and unwavering commitment to one another.
What began in 1983 as a modest week of events organized by a handful of determined LGBTQIA+ advocates has grown into one of Southern Nevada’s most recognized community celebrations. From gatherings on the UNLV campus and rallies in Sunset Park to today’s large-scale festivals, parades, publications, and year-round programs, Las Vegas PRIDE has evolved alongside the community it serves.
The journey has never been without challenges. Through the AIDS epidemic, economic downturns, political battles, devastating weather, and even a global pandemic, our community has continued to show up. Each generation of volunteers, board members, entertainers, sponsors, royalty, and supporters has helped carry the torch forward, ensuring that LGBTQIA+ people in Southern Nevada remain visible, celebrated, and connected.
The history of Las Vegas PRIDE is more than a timeline of events—it is a testament to resilience. It is the story of thousands of individuals who believed our community deserved a place to gather, celebrate, advocate, and be seen.
As we continue to tell our stories, we honor those who came before us while creating space for those who will write the next chapters. Because PRIDE is not simply an event, it is a legacy built by community, sustained by community, and strengthened every time we come together.
Our story continues.
