By Las Vegas PRIDE Magazine Staff

The Southern Nevada Association of PRIDE Inc. welcomes the newest member of our royalty family, Miss Las Vegas Trans PRIDE Sarah Amie Dorsey. She is a very bright light within our Las Vegas community, and we are so grateful and honored to have her represent our Trans Community.

Sarah Amie Dorsey is an educator, writer, artist, and transgender activist. She is the founder of Amie Teaches, an educational coaching practice focused on developing strong academic skills, greater confidence, curiosity, and a joy in learning. She is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of California, Los Angeles.

Amie established her reputation as an educator through her previous educational company, Tutor Ted, under which she authored seven test-preparation books. Her teaching style is known for making even difficult material feel engaging and accessible.

Amie recently launched “Modern Transgender Mythology” (MTM), an ambitious storytelling project that reimagines the gods of classical mythology at work in the modern world. Written in a witty and satirical voice, the project explores identity, transformation, power, love, gender, religion, and contemporary culture through the lens of myth.

She is also a musician. Amie wrote and released “Magic,” a music video project celebrating transgender resilience and joy. The project, created for Trans Day of Visibility, featured members of the Las Vegas trans community and reflects her philosophy that transness is a gift to be celebrated.

Beyond her creative work, Amie is involved in LGBTQ+ community advocacy in Southern Nevada. She serves on the Transgender Steering Committee at the Center, and sings in the Neon TransHarmonic Choir, Las Vegas’s first transgender and allied community choir.

Whether teaching a student to analyze Jane Austen, writing a modern myth about ancient gods, organizing in her community, or creating music, Sarah Amie Dorsey approaches her work with a consistent belief: that beauty, truth, humor, and compassion are inseparable and essential to what makes us human.
