A Safe Harbor for Recovery: Lambda Alano & LGBTQ 12-Step Support in Las Vegas

By Lambda Alano Las Vegas

In the heart of Las Vegas lies a quietly powerful oasis of healing, community, and hope: Lambda Alano Clubhouse. Since the mid-1980s, Lambda has served as a safe, inclusive 12-step recovery clubhouse, specifically welcoming LGBTQ people but open to all.

A Home for Recovery & Belonging

Lambda Alano provides meeting space for Alcoholics Together (AA) and Addicts Together (NA) groups seven days a week. While the clubhouse itself is independent and not formally part of Alcoholics Anonymous (which must remain neutral toward outside affiliations), Lambda supports these groups by maintaining the meeting space and handling utilities, insurance, rent, and related infrastructure so that the groups can focus on the work of recovery.

Alcoholics Together, an LGBTQ-affirming AA homegroup, was founded in 1984 and currently holds sixteen meetings weekly within Lambda’s space. (AlcoholicsTogetherLasVegas.com). Likewise, Addicts Together, an NA home group, holds regular meetings (for example, nightly at 6:30 pm, 7 days a week) in the same clubhouse.

Why It Matters

Recovering from addiction is already a deeply personal and challenging journey. For LGBTQ individuals, stigma, discrimination, or lack of safe spaces can magnify isolation. Lambda offers more than just meeting rooms; it provides a feeling of “you belong here.” A place to connect, share experiences, and heal among people who understand both addiction and LGBTQ identity.

Lambda’s mission is twofold: to provide safe spaces for recovery and to preserve the legacy of Alcoholics Together while enabling these groups to do what they do best, facilitate peer recovery work. The clubhouse is located near the Strip in the Commercial Center District (900 Liberace Ave, Suite A202) and has been there for over two decades.

Community, Visibility & Invitation

Increasing visibility for Lambda and its 12-step groups means more people who need help can find it. The Lambda website includes a calendar of meetings, so newcomers can see what’s available and plan a first visit.

If you’re reading this: whether you’re seeking recovery, curious about volunteering, or simply want to support LGBTQ sobriety efforts, Lambda welcomes you. Attend a meeting, share your story, donate time or funds, or help spread the word.

In a city of bright lights and quick illusions, Lambda Alano stands quietly as a beacon of something steady, real, and true: sobriety, fellowship, and a place where you can show up exactly as you are.
