Over the holiday, I watched the new documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.” It did not disappoint; I loved it! I was anxiously awaiting its release for months. After all, he is one of my heroes.

As we enter 2024, the LGBTQ+ community finds itself at a pivotal moment. With each year bringing its own challenges and triumphs, the new year offers an opportunity to reflect, reset, and recommit to creating a world that is inclusive and affirming for all. Whether you’re an individual looking to grow or an organization seeking to do better, here are some resolutions to help us make 2024 our most inclusive year yet.

Las Vegas PRIDE Magazine will now feature a new and witty advice column from Auntie Norma, our very own in-house advice guru. You, the reader, send in the questions, and Norma will try her best to answer with wit, intellect, and charm. No subject is off limits unless it’s illegal, immoral, or just downright stupid! (i.e. Where do babies come from?) It’s been a crazy 2024, and we are just tipping our toes into 2025! Let’s see who needs some advice and direction for the New Year!

2025 will definitely be a year of change and challenge for everyone, including our very own QUEER community. Please know that no matter how significant your challenges will be, YOU ARE NOT AND NEVER WILL BE ALONE!

The start of the year offers us an opportunity to reflect on the lives and legacies of extraordinary individuals who have left indelible marks on the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. January and February have given rise to some of history’s most inspiring figures—trailblazers in arts, activism, politics, and culture. Here, we celebrate a few of these remarkable icons and their enduring contributions.

Join us as we enjoy the beauty of the Red Rock National Conservation Area. This trail is rated easy and uses a well defined trail with some light scrambling as desired. In and back on the same path, the total hike is just under 4 miles total and has a roughly 400 foot elevation change over the total distance.

For over 42 years, Las Vegas PRIDE has been at the forefront of celebrating and supporting this dynamic community. Now, they’re taking the next step in fostering connections with the launch of the Las Vegas PRIDE Community Mixer. This monthly event promises to be a welcoming, free-to-attend gathering that brings together non-profit community leaders, local allies, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community of all ages.

As we begin 2025, we will have many uncertainties ahead. What we know is that as a community, we have achieved so much progress, and despite pushback from conservative minorities, the overall acceptance and love in the world will always win!

National Transgender Awareness Week, held each November, is a vital period of reflection, support, and advocacy. It leads up to the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) on November 20, a day set aside to memorialize those lost to violence stemming from transphobia. This week is an essential time for learning, community building, and taking action toward the rights and dignity of transgender individuals.
