Stepping Down, and Up, and Out!
Mr. & Mrs. Las Vegas PRIDE Derek Guerrero and Norma Llyaman

Some would say the drama, stress, and cohabitation of an Emperor, Empress, Drag Queen, and an old married couple would be enough to make anyone go crazy, but not for our Mr. and Mrs. Las Vegas PRIDE 2024-2025, Derek Guerrero and Norma Llyaman (Jim McCoy). These two were already crazy before they began their reign as community representatives! For them, it was a cake walk!
Celebrating over two glorious years of representing Las Vegas PRIDE, our Mr. and Mrs. will officially transition into different community roles and step down as featured royalty this October during the PRIDE Celebrations. Derek will continue to volunteer and serve as an active Associate Board Member, with an emphasis on special event planning and community outreach, alongside other organizations, such as The Nevada Gay Rodeo Association. He has single-handedly wrangled over 300+ volunteers within the past three years as the Volunteer Director for the Big Horn Rodeo.

Our Mrs., Norma, will begin a new legacy within the royalty realm and step into a new title, Las Vegas PRIDE Queen Mother. Along with Miss Las Vegas Latin PRIDE, Josie Cavallari, the new Queen Mother, will not only continue to make appearances and entertain within the community but also uphold the legacy of the titles by mentoring and guiding individuals interested in our royalty positions.
Derek and Norma have given PRIDE royalty a sense of purpose and maturity. Both have continually participated in community outreach and development. As the founding creators of Pahrump PROUD, which has now evolved into Pahrump PRIDE, the continued support they have initiated for the Queer community in Nye County is commendable. They have both also actively pursued the creation of PRIDE’s newest event, The PRIDE Bar Hop and have hosted the last three incredibly successful events for the Las Vegas PRIDE Cocktail Coalition. Look forward to the Halloween PRIDE Bar Hop coming October 24th. Together, they have been a force to reckon with!
Derek and Norma have embraced their titles and continue to do what they have always done: embrace their community. Every Day! As active participants for decades with our incredible LGBTQIA+ queer community in Las Vegas and neighboring communities, they still work independently with support for senior care and many mental health awareness organizations.

“It has been an incredible experience! The most memorable experiences are the out-of-town parades. When we get the opportunity to celebrate our queer existence and showcase Las Vegas. Seeing and meeting hundreds of people who are thrilled and filled with delight that we have traveled to celebrate with them. When they see us as a couple at the festivals, they get ecstatic! It is very empowering to know that we have the strength in numbers to make a difference and that we must always remember to keep fighting the fight and be visible!” Derek stated.
“It’s very simple! I wouldn’t have done it without him, and I couldn’t (CAN’T) do it without him! We are the Yin and Yang, the Morticia and Gomez! The Raven and the Cat! We get things done!” Norma always has the last word!
